The 165-year-old mosque in the Camili Basin on the Georgian border of Borcka district of Artvin challenges the years. Maral is one of the 6 villages in the Camili Basin. Carefully protected by the village people and standing for 165 years, the mosque attracts the attention of local and foreign tourists who come to visit Artvin. Metin Bayram, the mayor of the village of Maral, said in a statement to the AA correspondent, that the historic Iremit Mosque was built in 1851 during the Ottoman period and has managed to stand up to date. Saying that the mosque registered to the village legal entity has a 165-year history, Bayram said that the mosque, which is approximately 3 kilometers away from the Georgian border and is made of wood for the most part, uses various motifs and root paint in the pulpit, doors and some other parts.
