The River Apurimac in Peru flows through a steep-sided valley below Choquequirao, one of the last fortresses of the Incas. The name Apurimac means 'Voice of God' in Quechua, the ancient language of the Incas, still spoken today throughout Peru. To reach the flimsy bridge, one must descend over 10km of steep switchbacks.
